An authoritative and beautifully illustrated book on wild food and
foraging by one of the leading experts. 'I can safely say that if I
hadn't picked up this book some twenty years ago I wouldn't have
eaten as well, or even lived as well, as I have. It inspired me
then and it inspires me now' - Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstal Wild food
is all around us, growing in our hedgerows and fields, along river
banks and seashores, even on inhospitable moorland. In Roger
Phillips and Martyn Rix's Wild Food, hundreds of these plants are
clearly identified, with colour photography and a detailed
description. This definitive guide also gives us fascinating
information on how our ancestors would have used the plant as well
as including over 100 more modern recipes for delicious food and
drinks. From berries, herbs and mushrooms to wild vegetables, salad
leaves, seaweed and even bark, this book will inspire you to start
cooking with nature's free bounty.
A new approach to foraging Roger Phillips is the legendary
godfather of foraging. Drawing upon decades of experience, his
knowledge of wild food is unrivalled and in this richly illustrated
book he shares some of his most recently gathered wisdom, collected
from around the world. Roger reveals the edible and therapeutic
secrets of our fields, woodlands and flower beds, and suggests tips
for sourcing delicious morsels growing throughout the countryside
and in our gardens. He also describes the native habitat and
history of many fascinating plants and fungi, both common and
unusual: from the camas bulbs eaten by the Native Americans of the
Pacific Northwest, to the Italian and Spanish favourite, Caesar's
amanita; from hostas, the familiar garden foliage consumed as a
succulent vegetable in Japan, to the newly popular Australian
citrus fruits. The Worldwide Forager is divided into four sections:
mushrooms and fungi; flowers, leaves and herbs; fruit and nuts; and
roots and tubers, and Roger uses each one to provide a wide range
of ideas for making your meals more colourful, delicious and
sustainable.
In the 21st Century, society is bombarded with "self-help" and
"self-improvement" books. This one stands out above the others
because it springs forth from fool-proof, real-life situations,
circumstances and dilemmas. It gives every day, practical solutions
which are easy to implement and apply to any personal, family,
social or business endeavor. When a person applies persistence in
whatever they do, and is consistent, almost without fail, they come
out victorious. Persistence Wears out Resistance is just that. It
will serve as a tool that leads you to beingmore than a conqueror.
You can be victorious. I guarantee it This book is a guide that the
reader can always go back to and even carry with them for easy
access and reference.
This book is an incisive look at how the Word originated in Africa,
how this mass continent was the Cradle of Civilization and more
succinctly the factual Birthplace of Christianity. What a
magnificent and mind challenging work which will impact the
seminary world and religious praxis from Alexandria to Oxford
University and the libraries in Princeton Theological Seminary. Dr.
Phillips reveals exclusively without doubt, that Jesus is the
Savior of humanity nevertheless; he brusquely brushes the canvasses
of our minds with facts such as how, the majority of European
artists and Bible commentators painted and described the majority
of biblical characters, including God, as Caucasian over centuries.
This has the consequence historically, of excluding black people
from being an ingredient of scripture, leaving various people of
color to query the Bible's relevance to them. The title and
contents of "Bringing the Word from Africa," promotes a surety of
African ancestry confirming the many misnomers which took place,
purposely excluding the thought of "dark skin color."

Revelation in St. John's time? a view of Revelation you've never

Cancer is one of the main causes of natural fatalities in the
world. It is extensively treated using surgery, radiation,
chemotherapy or a combination of those. Due to its success rate and
non-invasiveness, perhaps the most promising of those is
Radiotherapy (RT). Not yet the most widely used, the lack of
training tools being possibly the main reason, followed by scarce
public awareness of RT as opposed to "scary" chemotherapy. A
Virtual Environment (VE) Simulation for Cancer Treatment intends to
be a tool that will offer potential means for training radiotherapy
personnel and increasing public awareness about RT as an option for
cancer treatment. Designed as a hypothetical state-of-the- art
Virtual RT unit containing a Linear Accelerator and Treatment Couch
with an intuitive GUI for interaction. An editable random RT plan
can be created including beams and settings for the Multi Leaf
Collimator (MLC) and the RT Device (Clinac); the MLC can be edited
at finger or jaw level. The effect of the MLC over the "radiation
beam" is visualized. CT slices can be displayed at the isocentre,
and other "special effects" were sketched. Core tools used were C++
& OpenGL.

This fascinating new volume is a follow-up to Daniel K. Longman's
first book Criminal Wirral; an intriguing and entertaining
collection of some of the strangest, most despicable and comical
crimes that took place on the Wirral peninsula throughout the
Victorian era and the early twentieth century. The tales featured
here uncover many fascinating cases that have been long forgotten,
and are supported by illustrations which help to bring these events
and the people featured in them to life. Read on and uncover the
grisly facts of what once lay floating in Birkenhead Park pond, a
gruesome suicide on board a Woodside-bound locomotive and the
farcical actions of a drunken butler one night at the stately
Thurstaston Hall Criminal Wirral II will appeal to anyone who has
an interest in the darker side of Wirral's history.
Phillips provides an appetizing and attractive selection of recipes
using the many plants, mushrooms, and seaweeds that are edible.
Photos help bring these possibilities to life. Recipes range from
syrups and teas to main courses. As we are beginning to rediscover
the deep nutritional value of wild foods, the missing ingredient
until now has been a reliable guide to deploying these healthy,
natural ingredients in the kitchen. The Wild Food Cookbook will
admirably fill that niche.
